Safety you can verify.
Jet Life runs hourly jet ski rentals on the Hudson. Every ride starts with a mandatory safety briefing, stays within a defined riding area, and goes out on an inspected ski. And we keep records that cannot be quietly changed.

01How We OperateWe rent by the hour, within a defined area, after a full safety briefing. On purpose.+
Hourly sessions
Rentals are sold in one hour blocks, not all day or multi day rentals. Short, hourly sessions inside set boundaries are safer for riders and for the water around them.
Mandatory briefing
Every rider is walked through the controls, the kill switch lanyard, how to get back on, and the specific hazards of this stretch of the Hudson before launch.
A defined riding area
You ride within clear boundaries we cover in the briefing. There are no open ended "go anywhere" rentals.
On site for every session
Our team is at the dock while you ride, ready if you need anything.
Inspected both ways
Each ski is checked before it leaves the dock and again when it returns, with documentation each time.
Why this matters
We control the variables. That is our best safety practice, and it is what makes a ride with us predictable and fair rather than a gamble.
02Safety & Rider RequirementsSafety is a process every rider goes through, every time. It is not a form you sign and forget.+
A real safety briefing
Controls, the kill switch lanyard, how to get back on, right of way, and the Hudson’s no wake zones, current, and commercial traffic.
Coast Guard approved life jackets
Required and provided for every rider.
Boating safety, handled for you
New York’s Brianna’s Law lets adult renters ride without their own boating safety certificate when our certified staff give a hands on safety demonstration before launch, which every rider receives. Riders under 18 must hold a New York Boating Safety Certificate. A valid government ID is required.
Rules of the water, up front
No alcohol or impairment, no night riding, no towing, and switching riders only as covered in the briefing.
Younger and newer riders stay close
We keep younger or first time riders in a closer, designated zone, about the size of three to four football fields, in calmer water, so they build confidence safely.
Weather and water closures
If conditions are not safe, we do not launch, and you are refunded or rescheduled.
Why this matters
You are trusting a documented process that runs the same way on a quiet Tuesday and a packed holiday weekend, not a stranger’s judgment in the moment.
03Fleet & MaintenanceEvery ski is inspected before and after each rental.+
Full inspection, every time
A complete check of each machine before and after every rental.
Photos and video on file
Condition is captured when the ski leaves and when it returns.
Preserved service history
Maintenance and service records are logged and kept, not stored in someone’s head.
Why this matters
You ride a machine that was checked before you got on it, and the condition is documented both ways. That protects you as much as it protects us. We publish our process, not private logs.
04Payment & Card on FileClear, fair, and the same for everyone. No surprises.+
Full payment at booking
You pay for your session up front when you reserve. There are no partial deposits to settle later.
A card kept securely on file
Your card is saved for the session. Nothing extra is ever charged unless there is damage or your ride runs beyond the booked time, and you agree to this in writing when you book.
Held by Stripe, not by us
The card on file lives in Stripe’s secure vault. Jet Life never sees or stores your card number, and can only request a charge you have already authorized.
Documented damage handling
Photos when the ski leaves and when it returns, and any damage assessed by written estimate per the signed rental agreement. No guesswork.
Why this matters
You know exactly how payment and damage are handled before you get on the water, and your card on file means no awkward settling up at the dock.
05Return Time & OvertimeYour time starts when you leave the dock, not a minute before.+
The clock starts at the dock
Your session begins the moment you head out on the water, so you get the full time you paid for. You are never charged for the briefing or for getting set up.
A 10 minute grace period
No fee inside the grace window on your return.
Then $3 a minute
After the grace period, overtime is $3 a minute, charged automatically to the card on file.
Running late? Call us
Communication is the difference between a courtesy and an automatic charge. Reach us and we will work with you where we can.
Why this matters
Our skis run on a tight dock schedule, and a late return delays the next group’s reservation. Starting the clock at the dock is our promise that you get every minute you paid for. The overtime rate keeps the day fair for everyone who booked after you.
Tip: The river has a way of making time disappear. A waterproof watch, or a phone in a waterproof pouch, keeps you on schedule.
06If Something HappensA clear, practiced process for everyone’s protection.+
Step 1. Stop and check for injuries
Safety first, always.
Step 2. Call authorities
If anyone is hurt or there is a safety risk.
Step 3. Notify Jet Life right away
So we can respond and support you.
Step 4. Complete an incident report
With us, while the details are fresh.
Why this matters
Incident records are written to a tamper evident log. Once recorded, they cannot be quietly changed or deleted, and they are preserved under a legal hold. When it is one side’s word against the other, our records cannot be edited after the fact.
07Local KnowledgeBased here, equipped, and we know this water.+
A locally based operation
We run from an established Hudson River location and operate to the rules of this waterway.
Coast Guard standard equipment
Life jackets and required onboard equipment on every ski.
We know the Hudson
We operate to the specific rules and hazards of this stretch of the river, and brief every rider on them.
Why this matters
In a place with real current and commercial traffic, knowing this water is not marketing. It is the difference between a safe session and a bad day.
Verifiable RecordsWe can prove it.+
Every ride, incident, and maintenance check is written to a tamper evident log, protected by a cryptographic chain. Once a record is sealed, it cannot be quietly changed or deleted. If anyone tried, the math would show it. Each sealed record carries a signature that a bank, insurer, or court can independently verify, without exposing any personal information.
Independent verification of a specific record is available to partners and auditors on request.
Controls at a GlanceMapped to SOC 2 and NIST 800-53.+
Jet Life’s internal controls are mapped to recognized security and governance frameworks, covering record integrity, access control, and incident response.
